Tangerine – doTERRA’s New Essential Oil

August 3, 2017 By Heather Cherrington Leave a Comment

Tangerine Essential Oil

I am so excited to share the newest bounty from doTERRA! This is something they have never done before, but doTERRA released one of their new essential oils before convention next month. They have offered this oil in a special promotion before, but never as a full sized bottle (15 ml)! So, what is it? Tangerine – doTERRA’s new essential oil.

Tangerine – doTERRA’s New Essential Oil

Tangerine essential oil has a fresh, tangy, sweet smell. The tangerine essential oil is cold pressed from the peel or rind of the tangerine. It’s main constituent in limonene, which is a powerful antioxidant!

Great! So, how do we use this essential oil?

  • Tangerine can be used topically, aromatically, or internally.
  • Use Tangerine in a glass of water or tea for great flavor, not to mention the the benefits!
  • Put a drop of Tangerine in your palms, rub your hands together, cup your nose and mouth, inhale deeply.
  • Use a drop or two with some fractionated coconut oil and apply to your reflex points to promote feelings of happiness.
  • Tangerine is great to combine with other essential oils for diffusing! Consider using wild orange, lemon, lime, or a  slightly spicy essential oil such as, Petitgrain!
  • Add to fruit dips, popsicles, smoothies, punch for the kiddos (and you), baked goodies, and more!

Benefits

  • Cleansing and purifying
  • Contains powerful antioxidants*
  • Supports a healthy respiratory system*
  • Supports a healthy immune system*

Photosensitive

Just what does this even mean? Well, it means that this after applying this (and almost all citrus essential oils) you should wait 12 hours before exposure to sunlight or UV rays.

The Big, the Bad, and the Ugly – Life Challenges

July 27, 2017 By Heather Cherrington Leave a Comment

life challengesBruce had the biopsies done and then we waited. I sat almost immobile in my fear and wondered if he would be staring down death. We were too young for this, surely, 29 is not old, but cancer does not discriminate by age. I prayed that we would be spared and that everything was fine. That his tiredness and lack of focus was just from overworking. The moment when the call came there was relief and then pure terror. Fear, unlike anything I had ever felt before.  I can not tell you how my husband felt. I will not speak for him. Everything I share is my part of the story. My truth, my emotions, and my views. This is one of my biggest life challenges. The big, the bad, and the ugly one.

He did not have cancer, but if not cancer, then what? A question that was never answered. There was no clear diagnoses. Just the fact that there were five nodules on his thyroid and his body was shutting down. His thyroid would have elevated levels, normal levels, low levels. The readings were all over the place and it was taking a very heavy toll on him. His body stopped making norepinephrine and his levels were dangerously low. My go getter, my unstoppable force of action had been stopped.

Over the next 18 months, I watched as the man I fell in love with disappear. There were days when he simply could not get out of bed, medications that made him act as though he was intoxicated (most of this time period he simply can not remember), and drug interactions that would have put him into a coma had I not figured it out. There were doctor appointments, throat scopes, medications, more appointments, ultrasounds, and more medications. There was never an answer.

There were many moments when it felt as though he had died, but his body remained to mock me of what was lost. I was heartbroken and scared. There were no conversations, deep or otherwise, he told no jokes and I missed the sound of his laughter, of his voice, often. It was as if he forgot that we were there and that he loved us. My children stopped trying to wake him up, stopped turning to him, and relied solely on me. I was tired and lonely. Trying to raise my young children, nurse my new baby, and care for the man I love. I soon found myself lost. Bitter. Frustrated. So very angry. All. The. Time.

That year was ugly, difficult and dark with one of the only moments of joy being the birth of our healthy son. We lost so much. He lost his job during this time. We used our savings to survive and when that was gone we sold everything of value to pay the bills. Cars, furniture, knick knacks. I often wondered if we would end up homeless and at one point we were, but we were blessed enough to have family who caught us as we fell. I prayed all the time. I talked to God under my breath constantly. I cried, plead, and bartered, but it was not until I listened that things started to change.

This is part two of this series. To read part one, click here. To read how we found bounty, click here.

I share this in hopes that you will understand that you are not alone in whatever big, bad, and ugly trial that life is throwing at you. You can find bounty. Leave me a comment if you have thoughts you want to share!

The Big, The Bad, and the Ugly

July 26, 2017 By Heather Cherrington Leave a Comment

I can remember clearly the moment when everything changed. I was sitting in the sunlight that was shining through my back patio doors, working on the computer. My daughter was a preschool and my little guy was sound asleep. I was distracted and having a hard time focusing. I had the most exciting news to share with my husband, you see, I knew I was pregnant and the test that morning confirmed that I was right. I was deep in thoughts of revealing to him that our prayers had been answered when I remember hearing the garage open. I heard his footsteps as he came into our home. In the middle of the day. This was a very rare occurrence. He works long and hard and rarely takes any extra time off. So, I was instantly wary. He turned my chair around and the words he spoke, crumbled my world, in one sentence.

When Bruce and I moved to Utah, we had all these great plans, goals to work towards and a clear idea of where life was going to go, but we forgot one thing. We are not in charge. Life does not always go according to plan and in this case…nothing went as planned.  Over the next two years, our lives would be completely uprooted and we would experience a trial that we would never have dreamed possible. There would be many small everyday trials that we would learn how to navigate while trying to fight our way free of the trial that started it all. We would be stretched thin, our shoulders would carry weight we never knew we could endure, and we would both come to understand what it means to lose one’s self.

Both of us would also grow and change in ways that only this personal and difficult trial could bring about. Together we would experience it all. The big, the bad, and the ugly. I am choosing to share this darkness, this trial with you, in hopes that it will help you in your own trials, but I also want to share the bounty and that is what this blog will be about. The light in the darkness. The fact that while this one sentence, “the doctors think I have thyroid cancer and I need to have some biopsies done,” changed everything, it would not conquer us. We would and did rise above it.

You see, we have beautiful catalogs that cover the amazing products that we carry. They show you our great essential oils, whole food vitamins, amazing hair care, all natural spa products, and more. What they do not do, is help YOU choose what is going to be the most beneficial for you to reach your health goals. They cannot give you a personalized plan, but I can.

I would love to meet with you and discuss your top health concerns. I would love to chat with you about our pure amazing products and how they can help you. You deserve to have someone listen to what your concerns are and help answer your questions. Your health is individual to you. Do you want to go that route for you? Fantatic! I would love to support you.

Now, you may be thinking…”great…I just want answers and now if I meet with her I will have to buy something. Nope, not with me. You see the bounty of this appointment is that you don’t have to buy anything if you do not want to, but if you see something that you want, I can help you order it.

Owie Support with Essential Oils

July 17, 2017 By Heather Cherrington Leave a Comment

owie support essential oilsWhen my daughter was little she would sit beside me and play quietly while I made dinner. Usually on the floor near my feet. Life was easy. Then I had a little boy.  He was definitely more adventurous than she and I would have to strap him in a seat with play doh (or something similar) to make dinner. And then came my third baby, another boy, my wild child! This has led, inescapably, to more owies than this mother knew was possible. I really think that little boys need to come with a warning label: Caution. Will cause sleepless nights, worry lines, and gray hair.

Anyhow, our most recent trip to Challis, Idaho (this town is beautiful and if you get a chance to visit, the scenery alone is worth it!) my little monster roughed up his knee, not once, not twice, but THREE times! Each time he tore through the existing bandage and caused more damage.

I have never felt more thankful for having supplies to help on hand. As I held him in my lap I was able to apply Balance, just one drop, to his palms, we rubbed his hands together, then he cupped them over his nose to inhale. Followed by rubbing his palms on the back of his neck. This helped to promote feelings of calmness, tranquility, and balance. This blend also helps to promote relief of feeling of anxiousness.

Once he was calm and his tears were slowing, I applied Helichrysum, right over the affected area on his knee, to support a cessation of bleeding. Once that was achieved, I used diluted On Guard to help support immunity from any germs that may have found their way into his body (learn more about dilution ratios here). Then we finished it up with a small application of Correct X.

This is a wonderful ointment of Frankincense, Helichrysum, Melaleuca, Cedarwood, and Lavender in a non-petroleum, preservative free, all-natural ointment that soothes the skin. Correct X helps to keep the area of concern clean and moisturized while promoting healthy skin. After we used the Correct X, we topped it off with a new band-aid, some new pants, and lots of love and hugs.

A few minutes later and he was back to his wild ways with his mother pondering how she was ever going to survive his childhood. With bounty. That’s how.

This is also why every mother needs to have owie support with essential oils in her arsenal.
